Memphis Wedding Highlight Video { Brooks Museum of Art } A Toast to Whitney & Brendon

I was so honored to travel down to Memphis, Tennessee to film Whitney & Brendon’s wedding highlight video! The location for both the ceremony and the reception was the stunning and glamorous Memphis Brooks Museum of Art - seriously such a gorgeous Southern venue!

Whitney and her bridal party started off the day getting ready together (Whitney did her own hair and makeup!). The morning was so relaxed with the girls toasting to champagne and mimosas, while jamming out to old school N’SYNC, Britney, and most importantly Spice Girls. I just loved the comfy pink robes Whitney made for her bridal party, especially since she added each of their initial’s to them!  The couple exchanged gifts that morning as well – Brendon wrote Whitney a beautiful love letter, and Whitney gave Brendon a gorgeous print of the Perito Moreno Glacier from their trip to Argentina. I’m not gonna lie, I want that print hanging in my house too – just stunning!

After gifts were exchanged everyone headed to the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art to get dressed. Then Whitney and Brendon had their ‘First Look’ and shared a few precious moments together before all their friends and family joined them for pictures prior to the guests arriving.  The intimate ceremony was held outside, with a stunning floral arrangement by the Garden District serving as the swoon-worthy romantic backdrop complete with the tall white architecture of the Museum. All the while a talented string quartet further added to the romantic setting. The Garden District also did the floral arrangements for a wedding that Prince William and Prince Harry attended in Memphis recently, so it is no wonder the flowers at W+B’s wedding looked regal too:)  I also loved that Whitney’s Dad not only walked the beautiful bride down the aisle, but officiated as well, adding the most heartwarming touch the the ceremony.

After the ‘I Do’s’ were said and the first kiss was planted on Whitney’s perfectly colored red lips,(seriously Whitney’s lip color was PERFECT and all of the bridal party members wore the same color – so clearly it works well with all hair and skin tones! You can buy this perfect Yves Saint Laurent ‘Rouge Pur Couture’ Glossy Stain in #20 ‘Rouge Enamel’ here, or a very similar yet cheaper and non glossy option by Nars here. )  …the guests headed to the cocktail hour while we stole the bride and groom away for some more images and video of the two of them. The string quartet played inside while the guests were served delicious hors d’oeuvre. I about died and went to heaven as I walked in and they were playing the theme song from Downton Abbey! Ahhhhhhhhh!! As if this day wasn’t already perfectly romantic already!

The couple ate their dinner together in a private room with no family, friends, photographers, or videographers present – which I thought was just SO special. I mean how many couple’s get a genuine moment to enjoy their wedding day together with just the two of them?  The cake was from Frost Bake Shop, and I was lucky to get to have a piece of the ever so delicious Strawberry Cake – OMG! YUM! No wonder it is their #1 selling cake! I really liked the special touch of having the couple’s parents and grandparent’s wedding photos on the cake table – especially the cake cutting ones!  The couple was introduced to the dancefloor for their first dance by Gary Escoe’s Atomic Dance Machine Band – and oh my goodness were they one of the best bands I have ever seen at a wedding! They kept the dance floor packed all night long, and I really loved when they had Whitney and her Bridal Party get up and dance to ‘Proud Mary’ with the band!

I also loved the special moment when all of Whitney’s Chi Omega Sorority Sisters circled around the bride and groom, and sang ‘Shades’. Whitney works for Chi Omega Headquarters as the Director of Public Relations and Marketing, so there were tons of Chi Omega’s in attendance to serenade the couple! Fun side note: Whitney and Brendon were married on April 5th, which also happens to be the day Chi Omega was founded back in 1895:)

At the end of the reception, the couple’s family and friends headed outside to toss flower petals at the newly married couple as they happily exited the museum and got into their getaway car - so much fun was clearly had by all on this absolutely perfect day!

I also just have to say how wonderful it was to work alongside the talented Christen of Christen Jones Photography – as she was the amazing and talented photographer for the wedding! I cannot say enough about how well we worked together throughout the wedding day, and even though we had only met, I felt like I had know her for awhile by the day’s end and I hope we’ll get to both be apart of the same wedding again someday! You can check out her beautiful photos of Whitney and Brendon’s day here!

If you feel like you want to get to know this beautiful bride even more, you can check out Whitney’s witty blog ‘A Toast’ here where you can read all of her witty and hilarious posts about her entire wedding planning process. Since her blog is all about ‘toasting’ to the events in her life; whether everyday happenings or celebrity encounters, I thought it only fitting to open their highlight video with a few clips of champagne;) So cheers Whitney and Brendon to an absolutely perfect wedding day!

Leighton’s 1st Birthday Party – Botanical Baby { Lakeville, Minnesota } Videography

I cannot say enough wonderful things about how cute Baby Leighton’s 1st Birthday party was!! Her party was a floral/ botanical theme and I just loved all the details that made the celebration extra special:)Leighton’s Mom Toni styled everything to flower perfection hand making her own flower crowns, giant paper flowers for the desert table backdrop, Hibiscus flowers for the Lemonade and Mimosa table, fresh flowers everywhere, and the flowers that were edible on the cupcakes!

Yet, what really makes this video great isn’t the decorations and frills – it’s the tender moments Leighton shares with her family and friends that really warms my heart. Such as when Leighton is getting into her party dress laughing happily without a fuss. Or when she pulls Dad close and snuggles with him while opening her presents. This adorable #botanicalbaby (the social media hashtag used for the party!) was surrounded with love all day~

Fashion Blogger ‘Ruby Girl’ at the Minnesota State Capitol

I recently spent a fun filled afternoon with Miss Lindsey from the fabulous Ruby Girl fashion blog. We explored the beautiful Minnesota State Capitol Building. I was absolutely enamored with the many intricate details and amazing works of art throughout. The sheer size of the building was astounding! I stood in the rotunda for a good twenty minutes admiring all of the marble and woodwork. I was also interested to learn that the dome is a close replica of St. Peter’s in Rome, and is the WORLD’S LARGEST unsupported marble dome.

If you are interested in any of the adorable fashions Lindsey is wearing. She got her sweater from joules. Pants from Banana Republic. Flats from C. Wonder. Purse from Target. Her scarf and glasses were vintage and thrifted.

According to the Capitol brochure, ‘In the center of the first floor is a large star, the symbol of the North Star State. The brass and glass design is repeated in the marble of the floor surrounding it. High overhead, hanging from the dome, is a chandelier six feet in diameter and made of crystal.’ Since the chandelier is soooo far away ( the dome reaches a height of 223 feet) I never would have guessed how large the chandelier is! Six feet in diameter – that’s only a few inches wider than I am tall!

Cass Gilbert was the  architect of the building, but he also oversaw the construction and even the decorating. The Minnesota State Capitol was what really gained Gilbert his fame. Gilbert also built the Arkansas State Capitol, the West Virginia State Capitol, as well as the United States Supreme Court Building. He also was a skyscraper pioneer, building the Woolworth Building which was the highest building in the world at the time in 1913.

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful images of the Capitol, as well as the fashions from the adorable Ruby Girl. I strongly encourage everyone in the Twin Cities to visit, and see for yourself the beauty of this historic building.

B + T Winter Engagement Session { Minneapolis, MN Photographer } Snowfall Kind of Love

Snow, Love, and a Gorgeous Couple = recipe for the perfect engagement video. You’d never know how cold Becca and Travis were by looking at these pictures, as they were perfectly happy snuggling up with one another for warmth. This was the first video I have done in black and white, and I just have to say how much I love the timeless look of it! To top it all off how perfect is the song ‘Snowfall Kind of Love‘ by Ingrid Michaelson?? (be sure to watch in HD)

We started on the snow covered Dubuque River Walk. Then headed inside the Stone Cliff Winery to warm up a bit over a glass of Becca’s favorite wine ‘Purple Cow’. This also happens to be my very favorite wine, and I ordered several cases of it for my wedding reception. If you are wondering what it tastes like, think of Welch’s Grape Juice for adults:)

After the winery, Becca changed out of her dress and heels into jeans, and we headed downtown to the gorgeous century old warehouse district. One positive thing about it being so cold was that there wasn’t anyone else to be seen outside. The end of this shoot involved a kiss in front of an incredibly large Christmas tree strung with the big fat light bulbs, and an adorable snowball fight at their alma mater Clarke University. Becca was Captain of the Dance Team at Clarke, while Travis played for the Basketball team. How cute is that!?

“When someone else’s happiness is your happiness, that is love.” – Lana Del Rey

Talk about perfect wind blown hair!

I adore that incredibly romantic moment captured just before a kiss. Few things are sweeter.

After all the crazy cold wind Becca’s hair still looks this fabulous!

Swoon

These lovebirds have a wonderful life together ahead of them:D Becca and Travis are so loving and happy around one another. Their naturalness with each other shows in both the video and the images. You can read Becca’s blog about her experience with the shoot Here. Have a wonderful Holiday Season everyone!

Rachel Senior Portrait Model { Iowa & Minnesota Photographer } Gorgeous Fall Photo Session

Meet Rachel. You know when you first meet someone and you just instantly know they are a kind person. Just look into those big brown eyes and you know she dependable best friend material. Her dazzling smile is so real – I love when people have those smiles that come from inside of them – no ‘cheese’ about it. Her smile often turned into full on laughter, which was completely contagious and made shooting her that much more fun.

Rachel is very smart and wants to major in Biology before attending Optometry school. She loves spicy foods, and I have to say I am always a little in awe of people that can handle spiciness! I usually have to down a glass of water quickly if I eat anything spicier than ‘mild’ salsa! (I’m pathetic I know). Rachel is obsessed with puppies like most girls, (especially puppy pugs), but this smart girl heads to pet stores during finals with her friends to relieve stress by playing with puppies. Why didn’t I think of that when I was in school? Genius!

Enjoy these beautiful images of Miss Rachel:D

We had the perfect fall afternoon for pictures, and the colors of the leaves were at their peak. Her purple shirt complemented the gold leaves perfectly. The above image is one of my favorites of Rachel – she has such an effortlessly happy smile:D

If our lives had a soundtrack ‘Brown Eyed Girl’ by Van Morrison would be playing for Rachel – so cheesy I know – but seriously just LOOK at those big eyes!

Stunning, with or without a smile….and that hair! I can not say enough about how effortlessly beautiful Rachel is.
